01.

Biobased natural paint

COLIBRI biobased paint is a natural plant-based paint.
Its formulation comes from a plant-based resin diluted in water. 95% of the resin has biobased content made from primarily renewable resources.

What is a biobased paint ?
A biobased paint uses components coming from nature –raw materials of plant origin.

COLIBRI paint has highly biobased content – which means reducing human dependency on fossil resources – and thus having positive impact on the environment.
Resin, water, carrageenan, mineral pigments and preservatives are the main ingredients of the COLIBRI paint. It does not contain any solvents and therefore is not toxic. Our paint does not release substances from petrochemical agents like traditional paints would do.
In addition, its low VOC content –less than 1g/L means that there are no harmful solvents such as formaldehyde released into indoor air –within houses, nurseries, schools, offices, etc.
Applying and breathing this paint is non-toxic for human’s health.

 Key features :
Conventional paints consist of a cocktail of toxic petrochemicals that release VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) causing harmful health effects.
Formaldehyde is a colorless and odorless COV. This gas is a human carcinogen which contaminates the air you breathe indoors.

02.

Biobased natural & sanitizing depolluting paint

Based on our expertise, we have also developed a sanitizing paint.
As well as being innovating, this paint combines being biobased AND having indoor air purification effect.

The action of this range of sanitizing paint is :

  • immediate : it act from the first application on your support
  • irreversible : it absorbs up to 80% of the formaldehyde present in the ambient air of your room
  • long and effective : it interacts with almost constant for 8 years (with equal concentration of formaldehyde in the room)

COLIBRI biobased natural and depolluting paint :
The more you paint, the more you clean-up the air !

Atmosphere purifying paint Process

In addition to being biobased designed with no harmful gases releasing, our paint contains nanosensors which neutralize formaldehyde molecules while purifying the air breathed

WHY DID WE CREATE COLIBRI ?

The brand COLIBRI was created to respond effectively and durably to the problem of indoor air quality.

01

Do you want to breath healthy air at home ?

Certainly, yes !

02

What is the main pollutant of indoor air ?

There is a lot of VOC in the air,
the most dangerous is formaldehyde

03

What are the health impacts ?

Whatever our age, our health or the time of day,
we are all concerned

04

How to reduce pollution in my home ?

Some tips before you use COLIBRI paint !

01.

Do you want to breath healthy air at home ?

Indoor air quality is 5 to 10 times more polluted than the outdoor air quality.

We are all concerned, whatever we do as we spend nearly 90% of the time in confined spaces : home, nursery, school, office, transports, etc.
Polluted indoor air can have detrimental impacts on our health and our environment.

02.

The main pollutant of indoor air

Among the most common pollutants, one can find Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These are chemical substances that volatilize at room temperature, including formaldehyde. This is an odorless and colorless gas declared carcinogenic by the WHO (World Health Organization).

Formaldehyde escapes from building materials, coatings, floors, upholstery, chipboard furniture, varnishes, glues, paints, ... —and even some toys and cleaning products or home fragrances and decorative objects.

03.

What are the health impacts ?

Formaldehyde is a sensitizing and allergenic substance for our health: the more you breath it, the more you are at risk.

Formaldehyde is a serious issue and causes respiratory and neurological diseases.
The impacts on your health are as follow :

  • Eyes, nose, throat and lungs irritation and inflammation
  • Skin irritation and inflammation
  • Headache, migraine, extreme fatigue
  • Dizziness, nausea
  • Cause asthma or trigger higher asthma attacks for those who are already affected
  • ...

The severity of the symptoms depends on everyone’s sensitivity.
For instance, people suffering from lung or heart diseases (asthmatics among others), pregnant women, babies and children, elderly people are very sensitive to pollutant components and are much quickly affected.

04.

How to reduce pollution in my home ?

Best practices :

  • Ventilate your home, car, office, workshop: it is essential to renew your indoor air at least 15 minutes every day – even in the winter ! Ideally, open the windows twice a day, in the morning and evening
  • Furniture : prefer natural wood or wood-based panels with class E1. Avoid sticking your furniture against the walls (leave at least 5 cm of space to improve air circulation)
  • DIY / construction / decoration: use eco-friendly and low VOCs products —terracotta tiles, solid wood flooring, raw wood paneling, natural paint, etc.
  • Household : use white vinegar, black soap, backing soda, lemon juice
  • Bad smells : dry some lavender or orange/lemon peels
  • Cosmetics : use natural and preservative-free products
  • Clothes and linen or fabrics : always wash before using it for the first time
  • Mechanical ventilation : clean the venting grids, sweep the chimneys every year
  • Temperature : do not overheat rooms
  • Renovation work : use a safety mask while applying products and ventilate the area as long as possible

Avoid remodeling the newborn nursery in the last 2 months before the baby is due. For more information, see the baby room document
